UDISE School Code Finder 2026-27
Find any school’s 11-digit UDISE code instantly. Select your state — results appear in under 1 second. Search by school name, district, block, or PIN code across all 14.7 lakh schools in India.
Select your state from the dropdown, then search by school name, district, block, or PIN code. Results appear instantly. The 11-digit UDISE code is shown alongside school name, district, block, management type and category. You can also copy the code with one click.
Why is this UDISE Code Finder faster than others?
This tool loads data from the official UDISE+ database directly and uses browser-side filtering. Once the data loads, every search — by name, PIN code, district, or block — returns results instantly without any server round-trip. Both mobile and desktop users get the same instant experience.
Can I search UDISE code by PIN code?
Yes. Enter your 6-digit PIN code in the PIN Code field to find all schools in that postal area. You can enter a partial PIN (e.g. 5600) to find all schools in that PIN range. Results show school name, UDISE code, district, block, management type and category.
What does an 11-digit UDISE code mean?
The first 2 digits are the state code, next 2 are district code, next 2 are block code, next 2 are cluster code, and the last 3 digits identify the specific school within the cluster. For example, a Bihar school code starts with 10 (state code for Bihar) followed by district, block, cluster, and school identifiers.
Is UDISE code the same as DISE code?
Yes. UDISE code and DISE code refer to the same 11-digit school identifier. DISE (District Information System for Education) was the earlier name. The system was upgraded to UDISE+ in 2018-19 but the school codes remained the same. If your old DISE code has 10 digits, add a leading zero to get the 11-digit UDISE code.
How many schools are in the UDISE database?
As per UDISE+ 2024-25 annual report, approximately 14.7 lakh (1.47 million) schools are registered across India covering all 36 states and Union Territories — government, private aided, private unaided, and central government schools including KVS and NVS.
Can I download the search results?
Yes. After searching, click the Download CSV button to export your filtered results as a CSV file. This works for any combination of filters — state, district, block, PIN code, school name, or management type. You can open the CSV in Excel or Google Sheets.
Is this an official Government of India tool?
No. This is an independent tool by udise.net using publicly available UDISE+ data from the Ministry of Education. udise.net is not affiliated with the Government of India, Ministry of Education, or NIC. For official portal access, visit udiseplus.gov.in.

What Is a UDISE School Code
Every school in India carries an 11-digit UDISE code — a permanent identifier assigned by the Ministry of Education. The code encodes geography systematically. The first two digits represent the state. The next two identify the district. The following two mark the block. The last five digits identify the specific school within that cluster.
Teachers need this code for SDMS login, APAAR ID generation, and data entry on udiseplus.gov.in. Parents use it to verify school credentials before admission. Researchers cite it in official reports submitted to NITI Aayog and state education departments.
How to Search Effectively
Start with your state — this loads only that state’s data, keeping results instant. Then narrow using any combination of filters:
School name works best when you know at least 4–5 characters of the registered name. Note that many schools use their official registered name — not the locally known name. Try searching the block or village name if the school name returns no results.
PIN code is the fastest method for parents. Enter your 6-digit postal code to see every school in that area regardless of block or district boundaries.
District and block filters work best for education officers who need complete lists for administrative planning or inspection schedules.
Why This Tool Loads Faster
The official UDISE+ portal requires sequential navigation through state, district, block, and cluster dropdowns before showing any schools. Furthermore, it experiences severe server load during June–September when 1.47 million schools submit annual data.
This tool loads only the selected state’s data — typically under 300KB — instead of the entire national database. Consequently, first results appear in under one second on any device including 4G mobile connections.
After finding your school, use the UDISE+ School Data Report Generator to pull the full school profile — enrollment, PTR, infrastructure status, and teacher count — using the UDISE code you just found.
