A newly recognised school needs a UDISE code before it can submit data to UDISE+. A school cannot generate a code itself. Requests go through the education department.
The usual process
- The school gets recognition or approval from the state education department.
- The new school is entered in UDISE+’s school directory, usually through the district.
- The district MIS officer submits the request.
- The state MIS team verifies it.
- Once approved, the 11-digit UDISE code is issued.
Timelines and documents vary by state. Ask your block or district education office for the current procedure and any forms.
Beware of paid “UDISE code” services
Some websites offer to “apply for” or “generate” a UDISE code for a fee. The code is issued through the government process above, so contact your education office directly.
After you get the code
- Collect your UDISE+ login details from the block or district office.
- Fill the school profile, teacher and student sections. See the modules guide.
